As the tension between North Korea and South Korea begins to improve, North Korean leader Kim Jong-un’s sister, Kim Yo-Jong, will visit South Korea to attend the opening ceremony of the Olympics. Kim’s family had never been to South Korea before. It is stated that this relationship with the North improves bilateral relations. Experts say, however, that North Korea will not have any impact on nuclear missile testing. US Vice President Mike Pence, who will attend the ceremony, will watch the Olympics side by side with North Korea. The US believes that the North is using the Olympics for propaganda purposes.
South Korea has completed its preparations for the winter Olympics in Pyeongchang, South Korea, on 9-25 February 2018. 22 athletes from North Korea are participating in the Olympics. Korean athletes will participate in competitions in artistic ice skating, short lane speed skating, northern discipline skiing and Alpine skiing.
