Former Trump marketing campaign manager Paul Manafort’s ex-business spouse has taken the stand against him in his trial on bank and tax fraud fees.
The defendant’s legal professionals say Rick Gates embezzled thousands and thousands of dollars from Mr Manafort’s consulting firm.
Gates is the prosecution’s big name witness after he cut a plea deal this year and admitted two felony charges.

Gates, 46, is already facing up to five years in jail beneath the phrases of a plea deal he struck with prosecutors in February when he pleaded accountable to two fees of conspiracy and lying to the FBI.
A pass judgement on may give him less time if prosecutors decide he has provided “really extensive help” to the unique counsel’s workplace.
