BT loses TV rights for ‘ultimate fighting’ and NBA basketball

BT is known to have lost the rights to broadcast NBA basketball and UFC final fighting after walking clear of a bidding contest.

“we won’t bid any longer than the rights are worth to us,” a spokesperson for the telecoms large instructed the BBC.

The transfer comes weeks after BT misplaced the rights to Italian Serie A football.

The company spends around £1bn a yr on sports activities rights, such as Surest League and Champions League soccer, a sum which a few investors have criticised.

BT’s sports activities channels will proceed to turn NBA Basketball until the tip of October and UFC until 3 December.
