8 hikers killed in flash flooding in southern Italy

a minimum of 8 hikers had been killed via flash flooding in southern Italy, officials say.

The four males and four girls had been walking in a gorge in a countrywide park within the Calabria region after they were hit through a move swollen through heavy rain.

Twelve others have been rescued, together with a ten-year-old boy, the local head of civil protection informed Italian TV. 5 folks had been taken to hospital.

It is uncertain what number of other folks have been at the stream while the flooding occurred.
