An Amsterdam bakery known as “Anne & Frank” is converting its title after fierce criticism over the link to Anne Frank, who hid from the Nazis with her Jewish oldsters in a close-by building.

Critics on Twitter said it was “tasteless” for the landlord, named only as Roberto, to link his Dutch trade to the sector-well-known Holocaust victim.

Roberto used to be quoted as saying “it gave the look of a pleasing title to me”.

Anne Frank, who died in a concentration camp, “is a hero for me too”, he stated.

A tweet from Drukke Toestand, who follows Amsterdam news, mentioned “although the homeowners were known as Anne and Frank it could nonetheless be surprising”.

The Anne Frank House, in the same neighbourhood as the new bakery, is certainly one of the top sights for vacationers to Amsterdam. It documents the struggling of Jews during Nazi Germany’s profession of the Netherlands in World War .

Roberto told Dutch media he could amendment the title. “I Will have an excellent take into accounts it,” he said. “It wasn’t my goal to offend any individual.”

The Diary of Anne Frank is an international bestseller. She died of typhus in Bergen-Belsen camp in 1945, no longer long before the British Military liberated it. Hundreds of emaciated bodies were lying there, lots of them Jews who had been drive-marched from different Nazi camps.
