Neighbours has shown the first ever TELEVISION comparable-intercourse marriage ceremony in Australia.

The cleaning soap is reflecting on marriage equality, after comparable-intercourse marriage used to be legalised in December.

Executive producer Jason Herbison stated representation of the LGBT community is “a concern”.

He told The Huffington Post that the wedding of David and Aaron is a “defining second” within the show’s history.

David and Aaron’s wedding aired in the UK on Monday on Channel FIVE.

Herbison stated: “It Is no mystery that the humanities are filled with individuals of the LGBTQ community.

“As storytellers, we have performed a powerful hand in creating love tales like Scott and Charlene’s for the masses to experience.

“But till recently, our personal love stories have not been advised, out of fear of offending some of the viewing target audience.”

the wedding marks the culmination of an extended-standing relationship among David and Aaron, who got again in combination after David’s fling with Rafael Humphreys, performed by way of former Coronation Side Road celebrity Ryan Thomas.

Neighbours has always had homosexual and bisexual characters in the cleaning soap, featuring storylines about coming out and exploring love, but has never adopted a dating to the marriage degree until now.

Herbison said UNITED KINGDOM soaps have at all times been “first to end up that tv has the ability to overcome prejudice and advertise love and acceptance.”

The Archers on BBC Radio 4 was the primary cleaning soap opera to add a gay civil rite in 2006,

Channel FOUR’s Hollyoaks was once the first cleaning soap to feature a homosexual wedding ceremony. The satisfied couple John Paul and Ste Hay wed on Christmas Day in 2014.
