Seven other folks were injured, 4 significantly, in an attack by means of a man armed with a knife and an iron bar in the French capital, Paris, police say.
The guy, mentioned to be an Afghan national, was arrested. Resources said there has been no indication it used to be a terrorist assault.
Several experiences say two of those injured are British tourists.
The assault came about prior to 23:00 (21:00 GMT) at the banks of a canal within the 19th arrondissement, within the north-east of the capital.
Resources mentioned the man had attacked strangers, first of all stabbing two men and a woman close to the MK2 cinema at the Quai de Loire, alongside the Ourcq canal.
