Ruby Rose exits Twitter amid Batwoman casting backlash

Actress Ruby Rose has deleted her Twitter profile amid a backlash over her casting as Batwoman in a TV collection.

The Australian actress, 32, showed last week that she could play the first overtly lesbian superhero lead.

Many fanatics celebrated Rose’s casting, but others urged she used to be now not no longer proper for the function with some statement focusing on her personal sexuality.

Before deleting her account, Rose disregarded the grievance as the “so much ridiculous factor”.

“The Place on this planet did ‘Ruby is not a lesbian due to this fact she can’t be Batwoman’ come from,” she wrote in tweets cited by media outlets.

The series, for The CW Network, will see Rose play Batwoman and change ego Kate Kane, and is predicted to air in late 2019/early 2020.

Kate Kane has been openly gay seeing that 2006, in an attempt by way of DC Comics to make its publications extra diverse.

Rose will make her debut as Batwoman in a crossover episode related to other characters from the DC Comics universe.
