a 10th rhino has died after being moved to a special Kenyan national park, the federal government stated, because it introduced the results of investigations into earlier deaths.

Autopsies found the water at the endangered black rhinos’ new home, Tsavo East National Park, was once too salty and destructive to them.

They were taken there in an attempt to start a new rhino population.

Eleven rhinos were moved. The survivor was once injured in a lion attack.

Estimates counsel there are fewer than FIVE,500 black rhinos in the world, all of them in Africa and a few 750 in Kenya.

After the primary 8 rhinos died, the government announced an investigation led via the Directorate of Legal Investigations.

Speaking at a press conference, Tourism Minister Najib Balala showed the preliminary belief that water with a top focus of salt at Tsavo East had harmed the rhinos.

Before the federal government moved the rhinos, samples of the water have been taken but the consequences were not thought to be, he said.

The rhinos that have been tested had died from dehydration, upper breathing tract micro organism and gastric ulcers, he added.

The minister blamed govt officials for negligence, bad co-ordination and bad verbal exchange which led to the deaths.

A general of 14 rhinos had been earmarked for the move, but the federal government cancelled the transportation of an additional 3 from Nakuru after the first deaths.

Rhinos are sometimes moved whilst their populations outgrow their environment. within the case of significantly endangered black rhinos, the actions can identify new breeding habitats to boost numbers.

Nine rhinos had been killed in Kenya final 12 months, in step with KWS, and in March, the arena’s closing surviving male northern white rhino died after months of poor health.
