In pictures: wildfires devastate Greek region

Wildfires in Greece’s Attica area have killed nearly 50 people.

Most of the sufferers have been trapped within the village of Mati, 40km (25 miles) north-east of Athens, and died either of their houses or their vehicles. This village within the Rafina region is well liked by vacationers.
