Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko has steered Nato to send ships to the ocean of Azov following a naval confrontation with Russia off Crimea.

He advised Germany’s Bild newspaper he hoped the ships could be relocated “to assist Ukraine and provide security”.

On Sunday, Russia opened hearth on 3 Ukrainian ships and seized their crews within the Kerch Strait among the Black Sea and the ocean of Azov.
