It’s believed Mr Volanthen and Mr Stanton are part of the South and Mid Wales Cave Rescue Staff and tried to rescue a trapped diver in France in 2010.
The South and Mid Wales Cave Rescue Team declined to touch upon the Thailand rescue, whilst the BCRC mentioned it does not name the cavers it sends on operations.
According to reports on the 2010 operation, Mr Stanton is a firefighter from Coventry who used to be also curious about the rescue of THIRTEEN British cavers in Mexico in 2004.
He used to be made an MBE within the New Year’s Honours Checklist on the end of 2012.
In a 2007 interview, he said he became interested in diving after gazing a programme known as “Underground Eiger” as a child. He joined caving and diving golf equipment at university.
According to an internet profile, Mr Volanthen also runs marathons and extremely-marathons. He joked that “he best runs so he can consume extra biscuits”.
The IT guide, who’s based totally in Bristol and grew up in Brighton, started caving as a scout. talking to the Sunday Instances in 2013, he mentioned cave rescue requires a relaxed head.
“Panic and adrenaline are great in certain eventualities – but not in cave-diving,” he said. “The final thing you need is any adrenaline in any way.”
He delivered: “It cave diving is like that puzzle with the fox, the chicken and the grain. it isn’t unhealthy when you do it proper.”
In 2012, each men gained a Royal Humane Society medal at Buckingham Palace, in recognition of their rescue try in France.
The third British expert, Robert Harper, has been caving on the grounds that 1968.

In The rescue video shared through the Thai Navy Seals, the two British males will also be heard telling the crowd they’re the primary to reach but “many extra are coming”.
